Every year in Ireland, insured events occur devastating many homes & businesses. In a lot of cases people do not realise what their insurance policies cover them for.

Insurance policies are taken out to protect homes and businesses from certain events as listed in the policy. These events are called "Insured Perils". Insurance companies will only "indemnify" against the insured perils as detailed in the policy taken out by the Insured. Many insurance policies differ in both cover extended and premiums charged. It is important to remember that your insurance policy is not designed to maintain your property. An insured peril must occur in order for you to be eligible for assistance from your insurance policy.
